“Your body is not your masterpiece. It is the paintbrush you use to create your masterpiece each day.”– Glennon Doyle Melton from momastery.com
Most people have had negative self talk about their body. They get caught in an “I wish…” and “If only….” spiral about how their body looks and feels compared to how they think it should be.
It is hard not to when we see the push for ‘perfection’ all around us.
Part of the problem is that people see how their body looks as the evidence of success and beauty. But as Glennon says above, our bodies aren’t what determine that. Our bodies are the paintbrush- not the whole picture.
Our bodies are the vessel. There is so much more to us than our bodies. We have to use our bodies and live in them to create the masterpiece of our lives.
The choices we make. The things we do. The relationships we invest in. The way we love others. That is our masterpiece. Not how our bodies look while we are doing it.
It’s time to stop all the focus on your worth being measured by your looks. Your worth is about WHO you are, not how you look.
So go paint your masterpiece for the world to see the true beauty that’s inside of you!
