Just Breathe? Sounds simple, but if you are running around managing the chaos of this crazy life you may need to pause and remind yourself.
The first time I heard this song, I was moved to tears. These lyrics speak such truth into my 90 mile an hour life.
As you read, listen to this and let it remind you of the valuable lesson of finding the Breath of Life.
Ninety miles an hour going fast as I can Trying to push a little harder trying to get the upper hand
Is this you? Chasing a life that seems impossible to obtain? If you’re caught up in this endless race, I challenge you to think about what you are really looking for. This world is full of empty promises of happiness. True happiness is found at Jesus’ feet.
Breathe, just breathe
Come and rest at My feet
And be, just be
Chaos calls but all you really need
Is to just breathe
I know this is easier said than done. Those moments when you are torn with all that needs your attention are distracting. In my head it feels like a “collapse” at His feet. It is amazing how many of my clients feel the same. They struggle to rest and just be. The chaos of our schedules, perfectionistic standards, and trying to get it all done takes over and keeps us from embracing what it really means to live. It’s a good idea to practice hitting your pause button and be in this place at least once a day if not more. We can ALL take at least 5 minutes. Start with short increments…it can make a huge difference on your outlook and ability to cope.
Take it in fill your lungs
The Peace of God that overcomes
Let your weary spirit rest
Lay down what’s good and find what’s best
The line that strikes me here is to lay down what’s good and find what’s best. I love that reminder. All that I am doing isn’t necessarily bad…but it may not be best or the healthiest option. This convicts me to prioritize in a way that doesn’t end up with me running ragged, exhausted, and disconnected from time with the Lord. I love the assurance that when I just breathe, the peace of God will overcome the craziness around me so I can be still.
So friends, I pray that you take time to just be and breathe today!
