Are you a know it all or do you have a humble attitude of learning in your life? God can use every moment as a lesson in our lives- good, bad, or ugly. We just have to be humble enough to see it and learn it.

We should always be learning! Throughout our experiences in life, we should learn more about ourselves and changes we need to make. Everyone can always learn more about God and who He is and the purposes He has in our lives. We can also learn about people all around us. Life is a never ending classroom.

How can you benefit from having a humble attitude of learning in your life?

You can develop insight

Insight is like developing “x-ray vision” to better understand yourself, others, your experiences, and relationships. You can see things deeper and have a more keen discernment when making decisions.

You can prevent disasters

Do you learn from your past mistakes? Do you learn from watching other’s messy lives? When you have a humble attitude of learning, you can apply what you’ve learned from your own and other’s mishaps and prevent even more from happening down the road.

God shows us the benefit of humility

Scripture is full of examples of how we will grow in wisdom when we are humble. Here’s just a few:

The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.” Proverbs 22:4

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.” Proverbs 18:12

It’s much wiser to be humble than have a proud heart.

You may be able to answer hard questions

The more humble you are the more you will learn. The more you learn the more you can help others and answer their questions- even the really hard ones.

You can help guide others

As part of answering other’s questions, you will be able to help other people on their own personal journey. Having a humble heart helps people trust you and seek you out when they need wise counsel.

Remember just because you’ve reached adulthood, the pinnacle of your career, or some other big achievement in life does not mean you all of a sudden know it all and get to stop learning. It’s quite the opposite. Are you still learning?
